Marketing and Ad Campaigns

Examples of marketing and ad campaign designs for Western Washington University Athletics. Campaigns were collaborative efforts between design, communication, marketing and sponsors. A typical asset package included posters, handouts, email and social media posts. Many also included short form video.

2023-24 BASKETBALL SEASON TICKETS

The 2023-24 basketball season ticket campaign focused on bridging the rich history of both programs, the legendary status of the two coaches, and the engagement with fan base. Highlighting words "Legend," "Together," "Fan," "Love" gave us A/B testing capabilities while still speaking to these core concepts. This design language was carried over into a parking handout and for the complete conference home schedule.

The design motif was used in a print add in a local magazine the following year for continuity as part of a department-wide ticket promotion.

VIKING JAM

Viking Jam is the yearly event for students to kick-off the upcoming basketball season. It includes autographs, scrimmages, dunk and three-point contests, dance team routines and prizes. The design uses bold colors and video game motifs (from that year's graphics package) to reflect marketing of fun, high energy and community excitement for the students. Along with posters, social media graphcis, assets included a short-form promotional video, in-house video board graphics and an opening video.

WECU FREE STUDENT ADMISSION

In collaboration with WECU, WWU Athletics launched a campaign to offer free admission to all regular-season home games for WWU students. This initiative was designed to boost school spirit and increase student attendance at sporting events by removing the financial barrier of a sports pass. It was important for the design to prominently display "Free" and to showcase the community atmosphere of games. Assets included posters, campus handouts, and social media posts.

There was also a mid-season refresh using design language from that season's graphics package.
